Paw paw's projects

glad to hear it! Is vcarve a machine or the software?

Vcarve is software put out by Vectric.
Its great software and the only thing I have ever used.

I have had some concerns about the stars not carving correctly. So, I decided to make a flag with the same file. You can see that is worked perfectly.

Lots of people talk about the JTechPhontics laser and other lasers also. Here is a brief experience with mine

Phil nice video yet again! how long did it take to laser that project?

Decided to make my own Z Probe. Super easy!

Next step of course was to make a 3 axis touch plate.

If you make one out of solid aluminum (such as the Triquetra touch plate) you will have the ability to have both the 3 axis and the Z probe all in one tool.
Just lay it on its back to use as a Z probe only.

@JanVanderlinden. I just made one.

I had this video in another browser tab just waiting to roll, I’ll watch it now without further ado. :+1:

I guess what I should have said was, you can lay it anywhere on the 0 surface and get the Z height. (as in when you change cutters)
When you change cutters it’s not necessary to probe all 3 axles, only the Z.

Yes, that’s true. I will still you the z probe that is made also.

I have made a new auxiliary waste board using the glue and tape method. I also put in a T-slot without using a T-Track. I think this would work great on the XCarve also. Here is the video

An exercise is using Image Trace in Easel.
https://youtu.be/kUTdFQAo81M

I watched the video (and gave you the :+1:t2:) but I have also seen so many comments in the forum here recently about problems people are having with importing and tracing images in Easel. Personally I prefer to use the image trace in Inkscape, with the layers and tools I find it easier than spending time in Easel and then I ruin things in one or two misplaced moves. Even copying to different tabs as the project progresses, I’ve managed to mess things up on several attempts.
Not a criticism, I’m just curious, but what is the benefit you find in drawing by hand, photographing, importing and then all the adjustments in Easel? Also have you noticed any of the problems with image trace that others seem to be having?

I have been ask a number of times about image trace in easel and how to effectively use it. Very few people every use hand drawings. This video is designed to meet that request. I use inkscape also and I very rarely hand draw anything.
