I had this same problem with my new X-Carve. The x axis belt would slip after the carriage traveled back and forth a few times. I tried @SpencerShepard’s technique, of rerouting the belt in conjunction with 1/4" heat shrink, and it worked like a charm. It worked so well, in fact, that I did it to my y axis belts as well.
