Well here I go again

You still have a compromised Post Processor. I don’t know if it would affect your issue or not. Each line that has quote marks generates a grbl error (error: Expected command letter).

I ran this file on my machine several times (without cutting anything) and it completed each time.
(Arduino/gShield with 1.0c grbl).

[Edit] Took out the bad lines and ran it again with UGCS (1.0.9) and PicSender 2.5.7. Both programs ran it without error and completed as expected.

I just tried importing into Easel and it told me it didn’t like the last line. Other than that, Easel didn’t mind it. I have not tried sending it to the machine yet.

As Larry wrote, gcode should not have any " marks in it. (ex: “M3” - No / M3 - Yes).
Mach3 will not run it as is.

WOW, I’m excited to get home and check out my post processor.
Looks like its gonna be an early out today.

Best of luck.

Well I just checked and found that my post processor has M3 with quotes around it. ( “M3” )
I have no idea how that happened because I am not smart enough to do that .
(I’ve only been doing this for 4 months)
So, I re-ran all my programs using Phil’s post processor (which clearly does not have the quote marks) and will start carving again tomorrow.

Well, I’m currently running the second program and UGS is operating flawlessly.
(fingers crossed)

However; the visualizer still does not work.
Don’t know why.
It worked fine at one time.

Well I’ve had a great day.
Made a perfect bar sign for my customer without so much as a hiccup.
Many thanks to Larry for identifying the problem and thanks to Phil for sharing his post processor.
I thought this would be appropriate to hang over my machine.

Four months ago I couldn’t even spell CNC and look at me now…

Glad you stuck with it. Now the fun starts.

Four months ago when I bought this machine I didn’t even know how to turn it on.
(seriously, the person from Inventibles had to walk me thought it)
Its been a very steep learning curve, but I’m loving every minute of it.
Thanks again to you gents.

Does anyone know what this means?
It happens at the end of a carve and UGS quits working.
Then I have to shut it down and completely start over again.
I must say, that it does not happen as often as it did before you all helped me sort out my problems.
But it still happens.

That is a disconnect error on your com port. Might be your USB cable or a power problem i.e. loose wiring.

So my answer is to try a different com port on the laptop?
Can it be the connection on the X controller?
I have a new cable with chokes on it.

Do you use a powered usb hub between the X Controller and the computer?

No, I do not.
I don’t even know what that is.

Regular USB device take power directly from connected PC through USB cable.
Powered USB hub have a separate power supply so no power will be drawn from the computer.
These are typically more resistant to electrical noise.

To learn more google “powered USB hub”

This is just one example of a powered usb hub. There are many others. Notice the DC adapter input on the right side.

If you are not using some variation of this, you can expect to have all sorts of odd electrical problems with cnc equipment, in my experiences.

Yeah, so I’ve been doing a quick read on Google.
I seems like there are a ton out there. (quite confusing)
I don’t need one with a bunch of ports.
I looks like a 4 port is the smallest.
The only this that will get plugged in is the X controller.
I don’t care about the cost, I just want a good one.

I don’t Know.
What do you think?
