I have not had this problem in a long time.
I create a simple project (Easel - testing freezup) and start carving. Sometimes it lasts for 1 minute, sometimes only 15-20 seconds.
MacBook Air (rebooted) Most apps closed
Chrome Browser - Up to date, Cache cleared and minimal tabs open)
Electrical as always - the CNC machine is the only tool on the circuit.
The one variable I changed is to use Center instead of Left Front Work Zero and cutting 1/6" material (lower than I normally cut.
I switched to left front work zero and have not experienced the problem in the past 4 cuts.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
I went through the troubleshooting and still do not know what causes the problem.
More testing today.
I am using left front work zero and in a new project.
Carving the word Here - the machine started the first letter and froze up.
Again, minimal apps running, minimal tabs open.
Any ideas?
I am going to move the router to another circuit and may try using a UPS instead of a cheap surge strip. Fortunately, my equipment is next to the main power panel.
The [Solved - Elec. Interference] - Job keeps failing in easel - Easel - Inventables Community Forum is from 2016. I’d hoped in 8 years these devices would be more resilient to these issues. Maybe not.
Another issue suggested is the brushes in the router. Maybe this is why when I bought the X-Carve, it came with a replacement set.
I’ll test it out later this week.
OK - Lots of testing and this is what I ended up with. First of all - I may have discovered a solution.
Based on numerous suggestions, I put a Ferritte Ring Collar on the USB Cable - this did not help.
Based on suggestions from Francis of Inventables support, I took out the bit and ran an air carve with the router and vacuum off. It ran fine. I did about 5 different air tests and the system did not hang up at all.
I then turned on the router and ran an air carve - the system hung up rather quickly.
Again, based on Francis’ suggestion I took the router cable out of the chain track (That was tedious to do).
I put the chain track back together and suspended the router cable above the Xcarve machine. I kept it plugged into the same circuit as the controller.
This seems to have solved the problem. I did 5 different cuts over about an hour and the machine did not hang up.
I want to put the cable back into the chain track, but unless I can figure out why the machine freezes I won’t be able to do this.
Francis suggested I plug the router in a different circuit than the Xcarve Controller. I am luck, I have the ability to do this, but I know many other setups don’t have that option. Fortunately, it does not seem that I have to do this.
Thanks, Francis and Inventables for being there to offer these ideas.
